Narrow Gauge Locomotive No 3355.

boiler0 (16K)Williton Restoration Works has recently completed contract repairs to Narrow Gauge Locomotive No 3355 and obtained boiler certification through our Boiler Insurers.

The boiler required the replacement of some of the foundation ring rivets, copper firebox stays, the rivets in the fire hole door aperture and repairs to the fitting mounts.

boiler1 (9K)In addition work was carried out to remove waterside lime scale from the internal water spaces.

On completion this was then followed by a hydraulic and steam test as required by our Insurance Company.

 

Diesel Shunter 03081 Jack Shaft

boiler0 (16K) Work has been completed for the jack shaft of 03 Diesel Shunter 03081 belonging to Mangapps Railway Museum, Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex and the freshly machined journals and new white metal bearings have all been returned to the museum.

A New Cylinder for Taw Valley - West Country Class Locomotive 34027

boiler0 (16K)A New Cylinder for Taw Valley - West Country Class Locomotive 34027. The team at Williton have just completed the marking out and machining of a new cylinder casting for Taw Valley - West Country Class Locomotive 34027.

Although this is not the only cylinder to have been manufactured in recent years it is believed that this is the first time the boiler0 (16K)machining work has been completed by a team based in a heritage railway workshop.

The cylinder casting was supplied by Cerdic Foundries of Chard www.cerdicfoundries.co.uk
